Chula Vista Police Release:
On December 1, 2012, at about 7:15 PM, officers responded to information from a caller that a subject, Michael Rodriguez Chavez, 22 years of age, is believed to have shot or stabbed his girlfriend. The caller provided a possible address which turned out to be incorrect. Officers continued to search for an address and determined Chavez was at his girlfriends residence located at 1130 Morgan Hill Road in Chula Vista. Officers on scene negotiated with Chavez by telephone and convinced him to come outside. Chavez walked out of the residence carrying his three year old daughter.

Chavez and Lynn have a three year-old child, who was inside the home when the stabbing occurred. The child is safe and unharmed.
Chavez was later taken to County Jail where he was booked for murder.
